How to Play Casino War PDF Print E-mail

Casino War is one of the many card games available in casinos. Learning how to play Casino War is very easy as it is one of the easiest card games to understand among the list of card games.

Before beginning the game, you should know how many decks of standard 52-card poker cards will be played. Most Casino War games play using 6 decks of 52 cards. After knowing the number of decks in play, you will then determine the amount you will wager.

The decks are then shuffled. The dealer begins the game by dealing a card to you, then dealing a card to himself. The cards will be dealt face-down. After dealing, both players flip up their card. To determine the winner, whoever has the card with the largest number wins. The largest card is determined by standard poker card rules whereby 3 trumps over 2, Queen trumps over 10 and so on. The Ace is usually the biggest, trumping over everything else including the King. But some games may choose to have the Ace as the smallest card instead. The suit symbol will not be taken into account in determining the biggest card at any point of the game.

In the event of a draw, the player can either choose to surrender and forfeit half of his bet or declare "War" against the dealer. When war is declared, the player must wager an amount equivalent to twice of his previous bet. The dealer then burns three cards before distributing one card to the player and one card to the dealer. The player wins if it's another tie or if his card is bigger than the dealer's.

The payout is as follow: in the first round, if the player wins, he wins an amount that is usually equal to the amount he wagered, and he gets to reclaim his wager. In the warring round, if he wins, he reclaims the first bet, the second bet and only an amount equals to the amount wagered in the second bet.

Examples:

Sam wagers $4. Sam gets a 10 of Spades. Dealer gets 6 of Diamonds. Sam wins the game and gets back a total of $8, making his total profit $4.

Tom wagers $10. Tom gets a King of Clubs. Dealer gets Ace of Hearts. Dealer wins the game, thus taking away Tom's $10 without giving back anything in return. Thus, Tom's total profit is -$10.

Jim wagers $6. Jim gets 2 of Clubs while dealer gets 2 of Spades. Remembering that suits don't count, this game is ruled as a tie. Jim however, forfeits the game, thus losing half of his wager. Thus, Jim's total profit is -$3.

Ben wagers $10. Ben gets 5 of Hearts while dealer gets 5 of Spades. Ben declares war, thus have to wager $20. Ben gets 10 of Clubs while dealer gets Queen of Hearts. Ben loses the game and all the wagers, making his total profit -$30.

Bob wagers $2. Bob gets King of Diamonds and dealer gets King of Diamonds. War is declared and Bob gets 9 of Spades while dealer gets 8 of Clubs. Bob wins the game, getting back a total of $10, making his profit $4.

Ray wagers $5. Ray gets 4 of Spades and dealer gets 4 of Spades. War is declared and Ray gets 9 of Spades while dealer gets 9 of Hearts. Bob wins the game, getting back a total of $25, making his profit $10.
